Installation
Install Nexo Whisper on your Mac in less than 5 minutes. No technical knowledge required.
System requirements

Apple Silicon vs Intel
On Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and later) transcription is significantly faster thanks to Neural Engine acceleration. On Intel you can use Base and Small models without issues; Large models may be slow.
Installation steps
1. Download the .dmg
Go to nexowhisper.com and click Download.
A .dmg file (disk image) will download.
2. Mount the disk
Double-click the downloaded .dmg file. A window opens with the app icon.
3. Drag to Applications
Drag the Nexo Whisper icon to the Applications folder (the shortcut already appears in the .dmg window).
4. First launch
Open the app from Launchpad or the Applications folder.
The first time, macOS may show a security warning ("can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer"). If that happens:
- Close the warning.
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Near the bottom, you'll see a message about Nexo Whisper. Click Open Anyway.
5. Grant permissions
On first open, the app will request the necessary permissions. Follow the System permissions guide to know exactly what to do at each step.
6. Download a model
The first time you need to download a transcription model. We recommend starting with Whisper Small if your Mac has 8 GB of RAM, or Parakeet V3 for the best speed/quality balance.

Updating Nexo Whisper
The app automatically checks for updates on launch. You can also go to Settings → General → Check for updates to do it manually.
Want to install on multiple Macs?
Your license is valid for up to 2 devices. To activate it on a second Mac, simply install the app and enter the same license key.
